To effectively lead the financial management of your Community Futures, you need to focus on:

10:00 am - 11:30 am     EDP Session "Enabling Entrepreneurs with Disabilities"

The Enabling Entrepreneurs with Disabilities workshop will provide participants with tools for discussing accommodations and how they can be implemented, approaches for requesting a vocational assessment and identify common issues related to working with entrepreneurs with disabilities and discover strategies to effectively resolve these issues.

10:45 am - 12:00 pm     The Value of Child Care - Economic Impact & More (Economic Impact)

This interactive workshop will focus on the economic and social benefits of child care for a rural community. A summary of Manitoba research will be followed by discussion and success stories highlighting how communities have developed child care. Many of the challenges are similar; hear what successful communities have done to find solutions and the impact their success has on local economic and social capital. Success stories will include how some very small communities such as Waskada, Pierson and Minto have worked to make their dream a reality.

10:45 am - 12:00 pm     YOUR Business Toolkit: A Practical Guide to Business (Business Development)

Developed in collaboration with other business service providers, YOUR Business Toolkit was designed by SEED Winnipeg for business cousellors working with clients who have started (or want to start) a business and who want help in developing and maintaining systems and procedures to keep their business operations on track. The toolkit can be completed as series or used individually in any combination and order that best meets the business owner's learning needs. All materials in YOUR Business Toolkit are developed in plain language and can be used by clients with different educational backgrounds.

Larry McIntosh will speak about leading through challenging times. Larry will give real life examples of how he retains, motivates and energizes his Peak of the Market co-workers during good times and bad.

He will talk about how to build a winning attitude despite the challenges of slower economic times, bad weather or other obstacles that you must overcome to be successful.

1:30 pm - 4:30 pm     Building Sustainable Community Facilities (Economic Impact)

Pre-design planning, facility design, facility construction and project funding are four key planning areas necessary for constructing of a new community facility. This two part workshop will first focus on a number of steps in pre-design planning that will get the organization to a conceptual design stage. The second part of the workshop will examine the organization of an intensive fundraising effort, called a Capital Campaign. The participants will know what is required by an organization to secure extraordinary gifts and pledges for that special community project.

     Affordable Housing Plenary

This important plenary will consist of a panel of experts on the topic of affordable housing.

The goal of the plenary is to try and assist other rural and northern communities with affordable housing issues. The objective has three segments including showcasing the different partnerships that have been successful in affordable housing initiatives. Second part of the plenary includes identifying contacts and government departments that will help in assisting communities in development and implementation and finally provide resources to fund the affordable housing initiatives provincially and federally.


10:45 am - 12:00 pm     Introduction to Cooperatives (Economic Impact)

This session will provide participants with an understanding of the basic philosophy, structure and benefits of the cooperative model. We will explore the strengths and benefits of the various models of co-ops, as well as looking at the role of co-ops in our economy.

The CYBF session will provide participants with an overview of how they assist entrepreneurs to start their business and place them on the road to success. They will provide you with tools required to offer the program to your clients as another source of financing.

Are you living your ultimate best life? Do you know your top 5 passions? If you could have more of one thing, what would it be?

This introductory session will take a practical approach to living your ultimate best life by identifying the top 5 areas you desire in your life. You will have the opportunity through group and individual work, to create strategies for transferring your purpose and passion into your work, family and social life.

During this session, you will be coached on how to transfer your personal wellness practices into the work environment. An Ultimate Potentials map will be used to guide you into designing or fine-tuning your personal and work-related health and wellness goals; setting the stage for living your ultimate best life.

You will leave with tangible and practical health solutions you can implement immediately. You will be empowered to trust yourself, commit to your life's purpose and take action to change your life direction at anytime you desire, without fear or doubt.

This session is designed to affect permanent behaviour changes in anyone who actively takes part in the activities.
